If there is a need to relocate your office to a new place, then it can be quite a cumbersome task which will need prior planning not only for setting up the new place but also for the office removals from the old place. In the absence of proper planning, there can be a lot of wastage of time, haphazard nature of shifting and can also result in some damage or loss of the articles or documents.

Therefore, the guiding principles of the office removals could be the following:

1. Minimum wastage of the time.

2. Functions are affected to the least possible extent.

3. Preventing the loss or damage to the office goods, documents and other moveable assets.

These are the broad guidelines which are duly considered to make smooth transition to a new workplace. For this purpose there are special relocation consultants who can do the needful for you. Here is how they go about doing the smooth relocations:

1. Determine what the critical operations that are affected to the least possible extent. Once these are identified, arrangements shall be done to ensure that the same are either carried out on with some alternative means or some separate arrangements are done at the new location before shutting out the operations at the old one.

2. Inspect the new site, to determine whether it is ready for the relocations, in terms of the required infrastructure.

3. Divide the work into different phases, so that the required arrangements are made before shifting the assets and there is a clear separation of the related and unrelated activities. The documents and the records can also be divided into the ones which are required frequently and the ones which are not. This separation can ensure which ones shall be moved at what time and be kept at what all places at the new location.

4. Holiday-factor, Off-office hours: The relocations consultants do make good use of the holidays or in the off-office evening times. Using a well developed relocation plan, they can set up the logistics and other resources to move most of operational set ups on holidays which will ensure that the work is affected to the least possible extent. It logistical arrangements shall take into consideration the time taken for office removals, in-transit time and also for the setting up of the new place.

Though the experienced relocations consultants can manage most of these operations on their own, it is still advisable for some senior managerial person to be present to assist in this process. He shall ideally be a person who is conversant with most of the activities being done in the office, the work flow process and also knows the relevance of each of these.
